week 45

what? UT's undefeated!?! hooray...hook 'em horns! (i'm not so sure things'll be so great after texas tech, but we'll be root'n for the burnt orange any way). we cheer for dad's cardinals too, but they don't seem to be getting much face time on tv these days...there's always next year...
for halloween i'm going as james brown dressed like tigger...and i feel good...

yippy-kye-yay! i have a trusty steed around here somewhere...hopefully i'll find him in time for trick-or-treating...

still happy...

sorry this is so dark. mom has been trying to capture me clapping and it just so happened to happen in the evening and the video function doesn't come with a flash...but you get the picture (pun intended)

random pix...

here are a few random pix i've forgotten to post for one reason or another...this one is of me completely worn out from baby shower fun...this was my first shower that wasn't for me... it was for my ti ti monica...

my newest friend is due to arrive next month. auntie monica got to wear the crown on this day, but mom told her to enjoy because there will soon be a new princess on the throne. i'm so very excited and can't wait to meet her. i have so much sage wisdom to share with her about my soon to be 11 months on the outside...safe travels baby bailey!

mom tried her hand and some artsy-craftsy stuff for the shower. this is the diaper cake she made. i'm not sure why anyone would want to eat a cake made out of diapers, but grown-ups do lots of stuff i don't understand so i'll just add it to the list...

she also made bouquets of sock and washcloth flowers...who wants to stop and smell the...socks!?!

mom and dad bought these overalls while they were on their aniversary trip last july (while i was in mommy's tummy). they hung them up in the closet and would periodically look at them in disbelief and say, "wow, can you believe we're gonna have a little one to fill these out soon?" dad would even parade them around the house as if they were walking (he was silly even before i got here)...and tah-dah, here i am...filling them out and pretty soon i'll be running around the house in them. mom and dad still have to pinch themselves sometimes.

i can't remember if i posted the pic of my first blueberry experience...mmmm, purple sweetness makes me smile.

week 44

fall is in the air. the air is crisp and the leaves are changing beautiful colors...warm hues of yellow, orange, and red...
speaking of changing colors to red...i've had a dry patch on my cheek for several months that comes and goes...well, i got another one under my eye and they recently joined forces (sorta like voltron--mom and i talk about old school cartoons sometimes). mom had a feeling it was eczema...her feeling was right. i went to the allergist and got skin tested. as it turns out, i'm allergic to wheat, milk, eggs (no flu shot for me), peanuts, and rye. i've got to go have bloodwork done to see exactly how allergic to these things i am. i go see the allergist again nov. 18th, so until then mom's gotta stay on her toes so we don't have any more hive episodes. thankfully i'm ok with rice and potatoes and just about every fruit and veggie i've had, so mom's pretty positive about things. hopefully it's all something i'll outgrow, but if not, it'll force mom to broaden her culinary horizons :o). i'll keep you posted...

week 43

it's pretty hard work being cute...
it requires frequent naps...they just come over me without warning sometimes...

like on saturday when we went to go see senator barack obama in west philly...

there were a looooooot of people there...

here's me with dad...

mom taking a shot of herself and dad...

there were even pitbulls present...and boy did they had something to say...

you see these 3 speakers? they were what stood in the way of mom getting a good shot of sen. obama...

oh well, at least mom saw his head and his arm (she thinks)...and i got to be part of history...the excitement and energy about this election was palpable...i was glad mom and dad took me out to brave the crowd...who knows, maybe it's just the first of many political rallies to come for me...

week 42

so the latest on the allergy front...mom gave me yogurt to try (plain organic whole milk...nothing fancy)...although i really liked it and ate it up...it made me break out in hives all over my face. mom had to break out the benadryl again. so i guess we have to add dairy to the "off limits until after 12 months" list along with no wheat. so of course that means no delicious cheerios, but because mom didn't want to deny me the crunchy "o" goodness, she found me 'perky o's'. they're nut and gluten free, but i love them just the same...so much so that mom has to give them to me 2 at a time because i will shove my mouth full of the sorghum circles like a little squirrel storing up nuts for the winter.
so the daycare is already putting me to work with my first fundraiser...it's to help fund the sports and music programs at "school".

while i was at mimaw's house i discovered another round object that brings me sheer delight...a ball

this little blue one is from mimaw and when we got home mom bought me one with thomas the tank engine...i love to roll it back and forth with mom and pick it up over my head. i also giggle uncontrollably when mom and dad show me their dribbles...won't be long before i'm working on my ball handling skills

here's my first piece of artwork i brought home from daycare...it almost brought tears to mommy's eyes...if she's that easy, just wait 'til mother's day.

it's kinda hard to see, but here's confirmation that i'm a play & learn baby...who's having lots and lots of fun!

week 41

i know i saw the cowboys' offense around here somewhere...

dad said mom's gonna get me beat up at daycare by all the crazy eagles fans up here...they probably would pounce on a baby...

this was mom's attempt to show off my chops...i'm not amused

dad was out of town all this week in minnesota, so we made up for lost time by bonding in the lazy boy on saturday...
thumb, cloth diaper, teddy bear, and dad (in no particular order)...what more could a guy want?

Friday, October 3, 2008

if you're happy & you know it...do a dance

this is a scene from my pre-daycare pep rally...i had to "get up" for the game (mom's a great "get hype man"...look out ray lewis)

now if mom could just get this amped about the laudry...

week 40

this is my new friend sahriah...her mommy grew up with my mommy...
if you look reeeeal close (like she is) you can see my two little teeth just emerging...
she had pretty, shiny shoes...y'all (i learned how to say that while in texas) know how i love shoes...

and here's leylah, she wanted to get in on the action too

here's me and uncle juju spending some time on our last night in texas...

i'll miss this table (it was just my size and perfect for banging) and my blocks...oh yeah, you too mimaw ;o)

we made it back to philly safely on tuesday afternoon...it was mom's first time flying solo with me...and boy did we have a lotta stuff...boy were we glad to see daddy when we got off the plane! when we got back i had my 9 month dr. visit. i weighed 19lbs 5ozs and 27in long. mom was sure i had cracked the 20lb mark (she's got a bicep to prove it). but i am toooo BUSY these days to let any weight sit on these thighs. she did read that breastfed babies are more efficient...we take in only the calories we need and no more...that's why rates of obesity are lower in breastfed babies (among other wonderful things).

thursday we went by to drop things off at play & learn and meet my teachers and friday was my first day at daycare...

i wasn't too sure about all these other kids or the fact that mommy walked out the door and didn't come back for a looooong time...not my idea of peek-a-boo...

but i survived! and i had all weekend to recover and get ready to go back and do it again on monday...this was week 40 on the outside, so now i have had the same amount of time on the outside as i had on the inside, and i must say...inside was nice-warm, dimly lit cacoon-like coziness, but outside has been so much fun. it's a new adventure everyday and the best part...i get to put faces with all those voices i heard while in mommy's tummy...and hugs and kisses-can't beat those. so all in all, i enjoyed my time on the inside and wouldn't trade it for the world, but life on the outside is mighty fine, mighty fine!
